Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, The Lost City of Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as “savages,” the determined Fawcett — supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide-de-camp (Robert Pattinson) — returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and passion, told in writer/director James Gray’s classic filmmaking style, The Lost City of Z is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and a conflicted adventurer driven to the verge of obsession.

  • Very slow, very long

Not sure what the director was trying to achieve with drawn out slow dialogue and an extremely slow pace. Painful to watch.

This movie had no direction. It started out ok and then just plummeted. Very disappointed.

  • Free On Amazon

This is an Amazon Prime Original. Not sure why it’s for sale on here. Anyone with Amazon Prime can watch it for free. I’m about to find out if it’s as worthless a movie as all the reviews say.
  • Why Hollywood, why?

I genuinely do not understand Hollywood's need to take perfectly good source material and stick their finger in it. The book this movie was based on was truly fascinating and well written. There was no need to mess with it at all. The motivations and storyline made more sense in the book and there was zero reason to mess with it. Despite messing with the story, the movie itself was not as well made as it could be. The main problem for me was that the director tried to do too much. He should have cut out elements of the story in an effort to tell the rest better. Above all, the passage of time would have been the best plot element that is really neglected. At no point do you get a sense of the work and time and effort and difficulty of the jungle and that was a huge strength in the book. I was really, really looking forward to this movie and was sadly disapointed.

I'm not even lying when I say I fell asleep 15 minutes in. This movie was so boring, it did the book no justice. I watched it for Tom Holland, but didn't even get to his part because, as I said I fell asleep 15 minutes in. I had a good nap though, that's about the only thing this movie is good for
  • Wasn't hoping for much.

Good casting, great script, good editing and a good message. Truly recommended.

What a joke. The movie is nothing but social justice warrior nonsense. Non of the trailers or commercials show this. Once you get into the film it's nothing but a racist anti-white revisionist farce.
