When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination they must attempt a harrowing escape.

  • Its still the best

  • Very disappointing

*Spoilers I had high hopes for this latest entry of the Alien franchise, but they were not realized as this film is quite a disappointment. The "which twin actually survived" ending is something that I would've expected in an afternoon soap opera, not a big budget imaginative Alien prequel. Sadly, the interesting characters (especially Walter) are done away with before we get to see what makes them tick. We also get more questions (on top of the unanswered Prometheus questions) and very few answers. This could've/should've been so much better. A little upset I bought this movie now. Shame...

I read some mixed reviews about this movie, but decided to give it a shot as I enjoy this genre very much... often enough to overlook some bad acting or other inconsistencies. But this was a complete disappointment in every regard. One plot twist along the way provided some brief entertainment value, but it didn’t make up for the bad acting and unbelievably unrealistic plot/events.

the most borng and ridiculous movie of alll time. Ed Wood films are far better.
  • Wonderful movie ! Not about the bad ugly aliens !

A wonderful movie very beautifully directed, scripted and produced. It takes us away from the mainstream perception of that horror and ghastly visuals of an ugly alien to something that’s even more dangerous and scary than what meets the eye!! People with an open mind and deep sense of understanding will love and appreciate both the visuals and the fresh perspective of this movie which is a hybrid of thriller, Horror science fiction and pure art.
  • It isn't about the story it's about action!

    By Freddie Tarkovsky
Awful! I felt as if the movie did not pick up where it left off at Prometheus, it didn't explain many of its mysteries. If you like action this is the movie, but if your intent in watching was to get answers regarding the end of promeheus you won't be getting them in this movie as it is a complete different story.
  • Oh my...

What is this? Prometheus gave us hope for better one. This sequel/prequel is so mediocre, the whole thing doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Plot is horribly wrong, you know- actually android created the aliens--so wrong, so wrong...Screenwriters better leave this alone. Aliens done and gone...
  • Entertaining but nothing fresh

Covenant is the best film in the franchise since Aliens. The effects are great, the acting is good. But the script is wonky at times with strange, unrealistic motives for its characters. One wonders why Scot went down this path. A lot of the events copy directly from the original too(and those are the best parts).
  • Stunned at the Mediocrity

I am stunned at the mediocrity of this movie both as an installment in the Alien franchise and as a stand-alone horror flick. While the Alien series has delivered varrying degrees of success--with the first two becoming classics and the rest generally having some moments of quality and some moments of remote throwing--I can't find much redeeming about Covenant. All the other Alien films had one common thread--a very strong female lead that the audience rooted for. Maybe that shaped the film for me; I went in expecting to meet a group fo space travellers, learn what makes them tick, their hopes and dreams, etc. but the humans were all paper thin. The Fassbender synthetics were the most lifelike, believable characters. The humans... meh. As some others mentioned, I'd be interested to see a director's cut. Maybe there was character development left on the cutting room floor. Very boring and poorly writtten. Stunned.
  • Awful

Ridley Scott, really, sir? You can do far better than this. You’re too good of a director to produce this mess. It’s one of those movies that I couldn’t wait until it ended. Predictable, too. There are some cool effects as the alien looks frighteningly real especially as it develops into the full blown alien we’ve come know in the series. Still, Prometheus its not. And did not add to the Alien story line.
