Imagine the end of the world— Now imagine something worse. Award-winning filmmaker Trey Edward Shults follows his incredible debut feature KRISHA with IT COMES AT NIGHT, a horror film following a man (Joel Edgerton) as he learns that the evil stalking his family home may be only a prelude to horrors that come from within. Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order he has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge. Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul.

  • Horrible.

Only gets one star because zero stars wasn't an option. Horrible story line. Good acting, but plot was just plain stupid.
  • Excellent film!!!

It's not getting great reviews from people on here because it's not people getting attacked by zombies. It's an extremely well done psychological horror film. Go in knowing there's no blood and guts and put yourself alone the character's shoes and you'll enjoy it.

  • good movie, weak ending...

More than solid acting, good cinematography... but why is it so hard nowadays to come up with a decent ending that ties the story together? I'm watching tons of (horror) movies and if there is one common theme nowadays, it is a sub-par, half a**ed ending. It feels like someone started writing a screenplay without the ending in mind. Could have been great, but the 3rd act just underperformed. 89%? -- do me a favor Rotten Tomatoes, visit a film school and learn about proper structure. P.S.: go by viewer ratings instead.
  • Serious Drama

If you are an actual real fan of film and cinematography, & you love to see actors draw out real emotions and real moments than you will like this film. There’s no action explosions or scary monsters, but it is Real. A real film depicting real life situations and consequences. It will make you think and look within yourself. The meaning in this movie is what you make it. Don’t listen to the negative reviews, those people just weren’t looking in the right place for the movie they wanted to see.
  • Bleak as hell

One of the best movies that I wish I had never watched.
  • This movie is a gem!

The contrast between what audiences thought and reviews thought is very fascinating. This just tells me that modern audiences can’t watch a horror/thriller movie without a jump scare every five seconds.
  • Slow but so so good

Amongst hundreds of post apocalyptic It Comes at Night distinguishes itself for its real human focus. It’s NOT your flashy zombie movie. The beauty of the film it’s on the pace, the score the imagery and the sense of paranoia it inflicts on the viewers. You’re left wondering who or what it’s the real antagonist in this story.
