I was 12 when E.T. was released. Coming from a broken home, I was forced to live alone with a single Dad who was selfish, cruel and uncaring. This movie made me realize the universe was full of wonder and magic, and gave me the strength to persevere. So thank you Mr. Spielberg, you saved my childhood from being a total nightmare. I hadn't seen it since I was 16, so you can imagine the flood of emotions. Such a treasure for so many, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I was afraid that this might be the 20th anniversary version that everyone including myself was annoyed with (due to all the PC changes), but, happily, I *can* confirm that this *is* indeed the REAL original version of the film just as it had first played in theaters back in 1982. iTunes, bless their hearts, chose to give us the true E.T., and I couldn't be more thrilled! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! :D

Language, terms, and guns are back. Just bought this yesterday and watched to find out if the guns were back. They are. If you want the *real* E.T., that's what you get.

The HD quality holds up well. It’s not stunning like today’s HD films, but it’s a good remaster. It’s still soft like what you would expect an old film to look like, remastered. The colors are also soft as can be expected, but yes, they are brighter which is welcome. The blacks are black and you don’t see artifacts popping up in the blacks. Lettering is sharp, that is a bare minimum - so that’s good. They didn’t CGI to fix anything, so expect ET and his friends to look exactly like they are alien muppets.
