A super-secret organization recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a dire global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. A phenomenal cast, including Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine, lead this action-packed spy-thriller directed by Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class).

Don't let anyone who has given this movie a negative review due to their inability to read the rating description discourage you from seeing it. If you're a squeamish pansy don't see it. If you can recognize that violence is a part of life then maybe you will enjoy it. I surely did.

While not a great movie generally speaking, the end was completely perplexing...anal intercourse???

This movie had it all in my opinion. First an unusual plot and characters. The whole movie was a wake up call for spy fans. The movies uniqueness and unexpectedness surprised us all. The plot, with its main villain played by Samuel L Jackson, was new and fresh along with pretty much everyone else in the cast. Second, the amount of action in it. In my opinion the action in an action movie needs to be new and impressive. In this movie it was. The movie provides action that is sometimes humorous and smart and sometimes impressive and amazing. Third the Style the movie goes by. This movie didn't need to choose a style of movie making they made one by making it a unique, fun filled, action packed movie.

  • Discussing and unnecessarily gory.

I can handle my fair share of violence and action but this movie was tasteless. There was little to no reason for the many scenes of slaughtering civilians and vulgar gore. From the trailer I thought this was going to be a Sherlock Holmes/James Bond/Jason Bourne sort of mashup and that couldn't be further from reality. Instead you're greeted with a celebration of exploding bodies and overly emphasized flesh wounds. The first half hour was pretty good minus the gore and then the movie gets worse and it's the same plot you've seen a hundred times where the villain threatens to hurt the world, it's up to the hero/s to stop him and there's a super hard to kill boss at the end before winning over the girl (and the girl won over had hardly anything to do with the plot which is also lame). The ending even had a grouse reference to anal sex. This movie was awful and will leave you feeling violated. I wish I could get my money and time back.

Matthew Vaughn is my new favorite director after watching this movie. The way he mixed a great action film with comedy is pure perfection. Typically these kind of movies use cheesy lines, predictable outcomes and forgettable romance but not this film! His fight scenes remind me a little of Quentin Tarantino style movies with jaw dropping moments in the gory fights. The cast and music were so on point making it just an all around amazing film. One million stars!
