Explore the dark corners of the criminal-justice system in New York City as they swirl around a young Pakistani-American man who stands accused of the murder of a young woman on the Upper West Side in this riveting eight-part miniseries. Starring John Turturro as an embattled defense attorney and Riz Ahmed as his young client, the story centers on the brutal murder, the subsequent investigation and the prime suspect--a likeable, unassuming college kid who finds himself and his family thrown into the pit of NYC's criminal, legal, penal and judicial system. Meanwhile, his lawyer--an inveterate 'precinct trawler' who lucks into the biggest case of his life--becomes entangled in a web of complicated legal maneuverings by detectives and rival attorneys that undermine his ability to try the case.

  • Three stars!

    By ImagineWalls
The majority of the people who watched "The Night Of" said that you either love or hate this, but that wasn't the case for me, I think it was just okay. The only thing that really bothered me was that toward the end of the season I started to dislike the protagonist and so I was more interested in the lawyer's feet condition than Naz's fate at the trial. Plus the ending could have been so much better.
  • Incredible

This show is actually based on the BBC series "Criminal Justice," The Night Of stars John Turturro and Riz Ahmed in a story that begins innocently for Nasir Khan and turns horrific after he meets a mysterious young woman. In custody and awaiting his fate, Naz realizes that his survival rests with an inmate at Rikers Island. This was a rare treat of top directing, acting and emotions running high. It is also a question of whether our justice system is in the right place or not.

One of the best series in a long, long, time. Starts out a Tarentino like vibe then turns dead serious.
  • Must Watch

It gets you hooked from the very beginning. I watched it On Demand, but I would 100% say it’s worth the $30 to rent/buy on here. Amazing cinematography and storyline. Must watch!
  • Wow

Oh MY GOD, that show got me obsessed. When i first saw the previews and/or teasers for it, i had no freaking clue what it was even for but when i finally saw the title I waited and waited to see what it was about and when it finally aired, i was blown away. Over all this is by far the best miniseries and it would be spectacular if it won a Golden Globe or Emmy and I found it a bit humorous how it was only a miniseries when there was a huge amount of hype for the show. No doubt it was completely understandable *PARTIAL SPOILER WARNING* I am a fan of but not a crazy nut-about horror movies and I don’t mind gore, I can eat food while watching stuff like that- but my god, there are partial glimpses of the body after the murder and that was crazy gross to me.
  • Remember his name - Riz Ahmed

I wasn't familiar with Riz Ahmed before watching 'The Night Of', but I'm definitely going to check him out now. I have a feeling you'll be seeing his name around after this. I was so hooked. I binge watched the entire season in one night ! Everyone in the cast was amazing!

  • Why the delay?

My son has HBO, so I watched this over at his house. If it had been offered on iTunes when it aired, I would have bought the durn thing as I have other series. I don’t understand not offering it as it airs and not making money when the opportunity is ripe. It’s not like I’m going to resubscribe to cable just to watch one program. This was a terrific series that I enjoyed immensely.
