Don't listen to the reviews whining about this being dubbed, this series is still one of the best shows I've ever seen. It has a good mixture of drama and action mixed with a futuristic SciFi setting... What's not to like? If you ever watched any of the episodes on Adult Swim, they use the same dubbed voices which is a big plus in my opinion aswell. By all means, I'm not saying it's perfect but it' definitely worth a watch and definitely deserves better than a 1 or 2 star review. I can't say much more about it other than pay CLOSE attention to every episode! Every episode has it's own plot that turns out being apart of one big plot. It explains everything at the end of the series but it's still fun trying to figure out what's going on on your own. Thanks iTunes for making this available for purchase! On a side note, if you want to want the subtitle version, check out Crunchyroll. You can watch subtitled Anime till your heart is content...You're Welcome! ;-)
  • Great series weakened by some content omissions

I bought this and SAC: 2nd GIG for nostalgia's sake when they were on sale around the time the hollywood movie came out. I enjoyed watching the series again, but I was dissapointed that the iTunes version does not have the original Japanese audio, and does not provide subtitles on shots of writing. This is especially egrigious when they are integral to the plot.

I'll only buy the subtitled version. Anyone who is a real fan of anime watches subtitled- in my opinion. Sure, I guess it's good for Pokemon, or Digimon, but serious, mature anime needs to be subtitled. You can't get the emotion right when you listen to a dubbed version. That and fact that the lips and voice just don't match up and it's freaking distracting. I haven't seen one anime that was just as good dubbed as it was subtitled. Please, iTunes give us that option. Looking at all the one starred ratings, 99% of them are because they are not subtitled.

This is my opinion but it really is one of the best. If you're a fan of Cyberpunk and action, then this is for you. Also this show has some of the best character development I've seen. The end of this season is really tense and awesome and raps it up perfectly.
  • No Japanese audio track

This show is fantastic! Sadly, although there are English subtitles available, they didn’t include the Japanese audio track on iTunes. IMO, this is pretty negligent as the original Japanese voices are almost always far better than the English dubs on these shows. Anyways. Not everyone cares about this, but it’s important to some and I know I wouldn’t have bought the show if I had known this beforehand.
  • It could easily be said that is the best adaptation of the ghost in the shell series.

A philosophical, psychological, and existential political thriller that pushes the envelope when it comes to world building and it isn’t afraid to be Real!
  • So good you forget it’s animated!

Along with the movies and the second season, quite possibly the best science fiction series ever aired on television, in addition to being one of the finest works of science fiction ever, regardless of medium. Ghost in the Shell takes place in the not too distant future and has very topical and realistic plot lines and story arcs, the main characters are multi dimensional and quite believable right along with the sociopolitical environment the author creates. The technology imagined is so plausible and realistic that I can easily believe that this is a direction we can be going in in just a couple of decades. It is written for a mature, intelligent audience with an appreciation for drama, intrigue and technology. It is my fervent hope that Shirow Masamune receives the recognition he so richly deserves as one of the greats of science fiction, right along with the likes of Herbert, Asimov, Clarke and Heinlein. By the way, don’t miss the Tachikoma tirades at the end of the episodes.
  • A Cyberpunk Classic In HD

Ghost In The Shell is one of those rare franchises in anime that crosses into the mainstream, as well as being recognized for it's big ideas and cautionary themes from World-Renowned critics and artists. Thanks to Manga Entertainment and iTunes, it's finally available in HD much cheaper than the import Blu-ray (which costs about $200…I should know, I bought one). Absolutely stunning to look at with plot and themes that go further than skin deep. Despite being over 10 years old now, the animation still rises above the norm in it's technical and visual beauty. An absolute must have, and one that truly stands the test of time.
