Description

Battlestar is back for its fourth original season! As the season opens, the last remnants of humanity continue their search for a new home, the thin line that separates them from the rapidly evolving Cylons is being redrawn. Galactica’s crew, rocked by Starbuck’s sudden and mysterious return from the dead – and her claims that she has been to Earth and can lead them there – attempts to make sense of the inexplicable. Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Battlestar Galactica's intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it numerous awards, including an Emmy. The outstanding ensemble cast is led by Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, and Grace Park.

  • Amazing show, unmissable

To those people who think sci-fi is squabbling robots and dodgy special effects, prepare to have those ideas quashed. This is one of the best dramas ever, irrespective of it being set in space. Buy it you won't regret it... unless hat is, if you spend over £70 on iTunes. Once again iTunes falls short of the mark on price and content. You can get the entire set on blu-ray for £35 which has the excellent Razor, not available in the UK, and extended episodes in seasons 3 & 4. I'm getting fed up complaining about the price on iTunes, but both they and the studios should be looking at prices on all formats and making it fair and competitive for us loyal customers. COME ON, PLAY FAIR, GIVE US THE EQUIVALENT CONTENT FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE BLU-RAY!!!
  • ITunes still missing BSG Razor

While the prices are now reduced. : ) The Razor feature length episode is still unavailable in the UK. I also notice that along with Razor (included with bluray) extended episodes from seasons 3 and 4 are not found here.

This is a decent watch. Gritty like all the seasons of the remake, personally I find the religious aspect of the show a bit silly, but overall one of the best SciFi shows out there. You won't regret buying it.
  • Absolute proof that SyFy was right: the series should have been cancelled

Season 4 is painful evidence that the SyFy Channel was right when it originally decided to cancel BSG after its second season. The show has degenerated into a soap opera, and in this case hi-tech special effects are used to cover up a complete lack of substance, content or continuity. I have no doubt BSG has a loyal fan base, but "high class drama" it isn't. Perhaps the TV networks should improve their pension plan and then we wouldn't have to be subjected to drivel like this, just so the actors can make money.
  • Absolutely, Compellingly Awesome!

From Episode 1 right through to Episode 21; a sheer masterful display of directorial skill, acting professionalism, intense drama, palpable action, uncomplicated spirituality; the list goes on and on. I was immersed right through to the end; and it will continue to have pride of place in my collection of tv/film masterpieces. For a Sci-Fi buff, this season was akin to the painting of the Sistine Chapel, with all its complexity; but beauty and dedication to produce a body of work that will out-live its conception. Sit back call a few friends who enjoy Sci-Fi and few who don't and be prepared to lose yourself in a truly believable fight for survival, with some beautifully scripted surprises along the way. HD Version Awesome... Standard Version Awesome.. Enjoy!

Simply the best sci-fi series ever, even blew stargate out of the water. Shame it had to end and caprica is not a patch on this. I bought the entire series boxset and was well worth the money!
  • Griity, Deep and Enthralling from the very first episode

I am no SCI-Fi nut but this is by far and a way the single best television drama I have ever seen bar none. Simply captivating acting is on display here from thoroughbred actors. Olomos shines but is well backed up by a solid cast throughout. The story is crafted with the sort of finese and creative flair that is rarely seen on the big or small screen. Cracking musical score, deep, dark, and 'real' plot lines from master writers delivered by master actors. Sincerely hope a for a big screen movie but the story is so well wrapped up i've no idea where they'd go with it. Congratulations to all involved. Essential viewing.

Literally. What an awesome series. Watch it and then look back at Star Trek and wonder why on earth anyone ever watched it for the last twenty years. Heavy drinking, swearing, lots of death, love, hate and a whole lot of Jimi Hendrix somehow inextricably linked to our continued existence.

Words simply cannot express just how amazing this show has been. It has redifined the Sci-Fi genre from the sterility and bleakness and droll characters with little-to-no depth to them, into a portrayal of modern day humanity in a futuristic, apocalyptic situation. All respects to the original series, but this blows anything and everything out of the water, I seriously doubt there will ever be anything to top this fantastic show. The last time I was this awestruck was with Farscape, but this is on a whole new level. The combination of cast, crew, writers and producers was absolutely perfect, from the gritty sets of the Galactica to the masterpiece that has been the music production, (especially the motif of All Along The Watchtower which was absolutely mindblowing) I cannot find a single flaw with this revolutionary show. It is a true shame that the journey is finally over, but it was one hell of a journey, and I don't think it could have had a better ending.

Quite simply the best drama there has been on TV for the last few years (and that includes all of the US police shows). Season 4 is another step forward in terms of script, acting and action - and the finale (although alittle contrived) is in keeping with the show and should deliver what all fans have been waiting for. Definately will be missed !!
